It was great to see so many delegates at the Labour Party Conference demanding that MP’s should be selected by their branches and CLP. The 33% threshold is wrong! I must admit that some democracy is better than nothing but the NEC has got this wrong. Mandatory selection is the right thing to do and also gives sitting MP’s and party members clarity. If we go down the NEC route it could lead to legal challenges. Mandatory Selection is the most fair system. Let’s hope delegates vote for this option at conference.
