As the government lurches from one disaster to another during this year of unprecedented health crisis. One has to ask how any of those people running the country ever got into university? The slow but steady march of incompetence was not expected even from this cabinet of curiousity’s! The Oxbridge educated and for most part privately educated cabinet have shown immense levels of incompetence, aided and abetted by an opposition that is trapped in its centre-right straitjacket that makes them unable to think outside their comfortable, middle class, London-centric viewpoint.
None the less, an opportunity for Keir Starmer, Labour’s new leader, to take the fight to the Conservative government of Boris Johnson has been more of a whimper than a bang since taking over from Jeremy Corbyn. The Green New Deal, disappeared. The National Education Service marked down into oblivion. Maybe we’ll see an outward looking Foreign Secretary that looks at the whole world and not just Europe and America, better get those glasses change her myopia is getting worse. As far as the Labour Leader and Shadow Education Secretary are concerned, they wanted children back to school at the height of our current crisis, not even the government contemplated that! Now we see children going back to school it reminds me of the Pink Floyd song “Teachers leave those kids alone” but the opposition is more right wing on this than the Conservatives, consider that for a moment and let it sink in!
Above all we have a financial crisis that we have not seen since we came out of the Second World War. We still managed to build 500,000 new homes, NHS and give people decent pensions with a Labour Government. We need such thinking now from our own government and from Keir Starmer will we get it? Only time will tell but we are running out of time.
